Dr. Heidi Hawkins, O.D.

Meet our local doc! Dr. Hawkins is a third generation Optometrist, she is a down-to-earth doctor that treats every patient as if they are a member of her family. In addition to her optometric practice, she loves spending time with her wonderful husband and their two precious daughters right here in Cave Creek Arizona.

An avid runner, she regularly competes in half marathons. Yet, still finds the energy to volunteer her time screening school aged children at health fairs and loves coaching her daughters in volleyball and basketball.

Dr. Shawn Giese

Dr. Shawn Giese grew up in North Dakota. He graduated summa cum laude from North Dakota State in 2001.

He then graduated from Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Shawn completed internships at VA Hospital of Los Angeles, CA, Maricopa County Hospital, VA of Tucson and The Eye Clinic of Fullerton, CA.

Dr. Shawn Giese has offices in Chandler and Gilbert where he has been practicing for the last 19 years. He has been active in The American Optometric Association and The Arizona Optometric Association.

Dr. Shawn enjoys snow skiing, water skiing, golf, working out and spending quality time with his family and his dog Toby.

Dr. Todd Smith

Dr. Smith is as local as you can get. He was born at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix Arizona. He graduated with honors in 1998 from the Arizona State University with a Bachelors Degree in Biology and emphasis in organic chemistry. He had several rotations while attending The Southern California College of Optometry including an ocular disease rotation at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Amarillo Texas, Macalapa Medical Clinic in Pearl Harbor Hawaii, and the Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in Phoenix Arizona. Dr. Smith currently owns and works at The Westbrook Vision Center in Peoria Arizona.

He is an adjunct professor at Midwestern University and teaches business management to the optometry students. He is a member of The American Optometric Association and past President of The Arizona Optometric Association. He was awarded the President’s award for best eye doctor in 2016.

His optometric passion is in the fitting of the best contact lenses in Carefree for patients that suffer from corneal issues, refractive surgery blunders and keratoconus. You can expect the best contact lenses in Anthem or Carefree from Dr. Smith. He lives in Northwest Peoria with his wife Bethanie, son Ethan, daughter Madeline and rat-like dog, Gizmo.

Dr. Kalynn Egea

Dr. Kalynn Egea completed her Doctor of Optometry degree from Midwestern University where she graduated with honors.

She was born and raised in Peoria, AZ. She attended Sunrise Mountain High School and played collegiate volleyball at Nicholls State University.

When she’s not in the clinic she enjoys playing pickleball, downhill skiing and spending time with her family.

Meet Renata, an integral part of our practice who ensures that your visit is nothing short of exceptional for you and your loved ones. Hailing from Miami, Renata seamlessly transitioned to Arizona, bringing with her a wealth of experience and dedication to our team.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Portuguese and Literature from Brazil, Renata embarked on a journey that led her to explore diverse fields. From competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to earning a degree in Science Nutrition, her passion for learning and serving others has been unwavering. Now, as an American citizen, Renata continues to excel in providing top-notch customer care, consistently garnering high levels of patient satisfaction.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Renata finds joy in sports, relishing good food, and cherishing moments spent with animals. 

Tony is our beloved four-legged Smile Coordinator extraordinaire! With his wagging tail and infectious enthusiasm, Tony is the heart and soul of our team, dedicated to spreading joy and happiness to everyone he meets.

With his degree in Service Dog Training and esteemed membership in the Good Boys Club, Tony is a familiar face around the office, gracing us with his presence most days. However, it’s important to note that Tony takes his lunchtime and naps very seriously.
